Rail Noise and Sleep
Not long ago, Ian Links prepared a submission to the Sleep enquiry held by the Federal Government. We undertook a study of how people in the area sleep using the "SleepScore" app on the iPhone. The app tracks sleep patterns and calculates a "Sleep Score" based on a rating process developed by ResMed. We found that around Waverton and Wollstonecraft, people were not sleeping well.

Rail noise measurement is an art in itself - one that we have been developing for nearly three years now. This post provides some information on what we have found. It is not pretty. This is a long(ish) post which tries to summarise the development of the Licence for the Operations of Sydney Trains since it was established in 1997. It is a continuing licence which was issued to RailCorp and inherited by Sydney Trains as the operator of the Sydney system.
